Catherine Retica was born and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota. As a child she aspired to become the first woman in the MLB.
Under the tutelage of University of Minnesota School of Journalism professor Mark Jenson, Catherine discovered the copywriting persuasion and began her advertising career during the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Critics describe her writing as offbeat, tongue-in-cheek, and “Never heard of her. Catherine? Ret–? How do you say it? Huh. Listen, I’ve been thinking a lot about last night.” She is widely attributed to the Meta Realist movement, whose distrust of social media does not prevent the chronic consumption it.
Catherine presently resides in Portland, Oregon with her partner and cat. She spends her free time running, participating in improv comedy, and attending church (the movie theater).
